This is Not a Drill.

Have you ever looked up to the sky and wondered,” I wonder what is up there?” Past the things you’ve heard in school, past the sky and the clouds, past all the planets, stars, universes, and so on. Have you ever wondered why you are here? Why you have been put in this place you’ve been placed? Like, why THIS town, city or state? There has got to be a reason, right?

There are so many different answers to this question, but only one answer. Let me ask you, what do you believe? It seems to me that whatever the world is trying to shove down our throats each week has a certain flavor to it. The flavor says,” Don’t think for yourself.” Have you ever experienced this before? Where everyone believes that you are wrong for having your own beliefs? Ever felt ashamed for what you believe in? It’s no surprise that this blog is going to talk about our Lord and savior, Jesus. But even He said,” If the world hates you, know that it has hated me before it hated you.” [see John 15:18]

One of my favorite quotes that I heard in church goes like this,” God didn’t promise a storm-free life, He promised a storm-proof life.” Meaning, when we ask Him to be our life. When we become (or became) saved, God didn’t say,” You will never have an issue in your life ever again!” He didn’t promise butterflies and rainbows. BUT what He did promise was,” In this world you will have trouble.” Pretty straight forward right? Look what else He says in the same verse,”but take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) A storm-proof life means that we don’t need to look to ourselves for comfort, peace, and being safe. Instead, we can look to a Person who will comfort, lead, and hold your heart in His hands in the most trying of times- that person’s name is Jesus.

So again, what do you believe in? Could it be that you were supposed to read this blog? Crazy how God works, right? Not by coincidence, but by His plan alone. Now more than ever, could it be that God is pointing you to the Way, the Truth, and the Life? (John 14:6) I don’t know, it could be a door worth opening and exploring!

I am not sure where you are spiritually, and I don’t intend to know. That’s between you and God, but if I jogged a thought or a curiosity in you- why not test the waters and coming to see? I am the lead youth leader at Youth In Christ- a ministry within In Christ Ministries. You can belong before you believe, and you belong after you believe! We don’t meet in a church, we meet at a building in downtown Burlington, CO. Here is why we do what we do.

Youth in Christ exists to break down the barriers that separate our teens of any denomination, background, culture, group or school, so that they can come together and learn about God's grace, the exchanged life and their true identity in Christ. By providing a safe place to learn grace and truth, we believe that God will help His children stand together “In Christ” to make better choices than the ones they believe they are limited to.

Don’t do it for me, I don’t get anything out of it! Do it for you, and watch and see what God can do! We can’t wait to see you!
